PATENT IMAGE DELIVERY SYSTEM
Product No. 60003 - The P9 Patent Image Delivery System

This is a complete plug and go patent image delivery system. The complete multipage, high resolution images of every granted US patent and every published U.S. application (since 1790) are instantly available to all users on your network with NO artificial limits on access. No per seat fees, no extra software licenses, no per user costs, no per image fees, no extra fees of any type.  Just patents, patents and more patents at your fingertips.

This is a complete server that provides the following services to the users on your network:

  1. Image downloads in TIFF or PDF formats to their computers.
  2. Image viewing page-by-page for single patent or application number entered (no browser plug-in needed).
  3. High speed printing to installed printers (See compatible printer information below).
  4. Database program to load and track weekly updates (from IP Data Corporation or the USPTO by DVD or online).

This is a single complete computer server that plugs into your intranet switch or hub (one power cord, one network cable) and is ready to deliver high resolution patent image data to your users in the first 5 minutes of operation. The only thing your users need is a recent version browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari to begin using the system (see Note 3 below for supported browsers).  Enter from 1 to 500 patent or application numbers for download or printing and a confirmation page is immediately returned showing sizes and page counts where you may uncheck any you do not want, then continue to finish processing.

Users can pull up patent images and view them, flip through the pages or go directly to any page number of any patent. They can request a patent to be printed on the included, attached, high speed HP laser printer.  A special print module using proprietary software ensures that the printer operates at close to its rated laser engine printing speed (have you ever waited and waited and waited for a PDF image file to print? No waiting around with this system).

The on-board database tracks each patent by Patent or Application Number and each issue week is added automatically when you insert our weekly subscription DVD, or the USPTO Weekly subscription DVD (we are fully compatible with the USPTO data).

The system allows browsing patents, and paging through patent pages as well as the ability to print entire patent documents or a single page, and also allows you to download entire patent image files to your desktop computer via your browser (in TIF or PDF formats).

Browsers require NO special plug-ins to view the patent image pages in several selectable scaled resolutions for various screen sizes (most browsers also scale images to fit current windows size and  let you zoom for increased detailed study).  With most office networks running at 100Base/T speeds, your network bandwidth will not be a limiting factor.  The system easily services 75 people actively browsing or printing patent images any time of the day or night. The system is designed to deliver more than 1200 ready-to-view image pages (browser ready) to your network every 60 seconds. That's more than 20 scaled image pages every second. The entire system is also scalable in that you can use two or more of these servers to increase output bandwidth. They are designed to work together in a parallel fashion, but can also operate in standalone mode as complete backup systems, if desired.

The data includes images issued up to the end of the last full issue year, and annual updates are very reasonable for follow-on years. The updates are also very easy to install each week (see item 38030, above).  The loading system automatically adds them to the correct drives to keep your entire inventory in numeric order! The system has room for 4 years of updates at current US issue/application publishing levels. The system storage disks all have 3 year replacement warranties and if a data drive failure occurs, we can deliver a replacement disk to you within 2 business days filled with replacement data  ready to plug in an use.

Basic user management and access control is included (User ID and a PIN needed for access - up to 100 user IDs may be assigned) but it can be disabled so that everyone on your network has access to the database with no logon requirements at all. Direct conversion to PDF files for saving or emailing images it also included.

Product 60003 - Basic Patent Image Delivery System - Price:  $39,900.00
Delivered with all data ready to use * (Just add power and a network)

* Requires 50% down payment to begin processing order. Balance due when unit is ready to ship. Allow approximately 5 weeks for delivery.  System hardware is fully warranted with on-site repairs for 1 year, and all drives with data for 3 years (shipped overnight, drive replacements are filled with data in 2 business days, if ever needed).

If this system sounds too good to be true, give us call and we'll send you a detailed description of the system and let you use it for a while. Of course you won't get the same speed across the Internet as you would on your internal network, but you'll get the idea.  Call us at 800-832-2823.  And by the way, a slightly modified Dual P9 Image Delivery System is how we serve over 100 law firms and companies with over 500 users across the Internet from our own offices 24/7/365. This is a proven technology in use today, and not some pipe dream someone claims they can build for you with vague associated costs

PATENT & APPLICATION FULL TEXT SEARCH SYSTEM
Product No. 60006 - The P9 Patent Full Text Search and Image Data Delivery System

This is everything product 60003 is, plus a complete full text search system. The on-board database includes the full text of every patent from 1976 (optionally 1971) through the current issue week (minus 1 week for indexing, processing and delivery), and the text of every published application since 2001 (See note 7 below for additional details). The text is fully searchable using a regular expression search engine. Searches are multilevel where the next search may use previous search results or may be combined with priot search results (e.g.,  L2 AND L3 where L2 and L3 are the sets of patents from previous searches). 20 different fields are indexed to search individually including Title, Abstract, Claims, Description, Inventor, Assignee, Original US Class, Current US Class, IPC as published, Examiner, and severla more). Patents are added weekly, and reclassification data is added every 60 days when the bimonthly US Class "snapshot" is published by the USPTO. The system also includes all images from 1790 through the end of the current year (2008) for Utility, Design, Plant, Reissue, and SIR (H) documents, plus all published applications (2001 through the current week -1). Images are displayed in native browser images as JPEG grpahics files (no special plug-ins are required).

Basic user management and access control is included for your local administrator who may assign and manage up to 100 UserID and a PIN numbers for system access. The logon system may be set to Automatic where a user is assigned an ID and workarea that will be deleted if not accessed for 4 consecutive calander days. This gives all of your users access t the system without the headaches of user managment. The system also provides direct conversion of images to PDF format for saving, copying, emailing or burning to CD/DVD.

Find out why the P9 Patent Search System is the NUMBER ONE CHOICE for private, in-house, full text patent database search systems installed in professional search firms!

System Highlights (read closely - you won't believe what you get!):

  • Delivered with all data ready to use (Just add power and plug it into your network switch).
  • Now with Solid State disks for the Index data providing even FASTER searching for your users.
  • The system is fully maintained for 5 years and the only cost is out of warranty parts plus shipping as long as you purchase a data subscription by January of each year. If a disk drive fails on your system, we fill it from our master data collection and ship it to you in 3 business days or less - just plug it in and go!
  • Annual subscription cost for ALL updates is about $10K/year (all images, text, class updates - all indexed and ready to load and search)
  • Weekly updates take only 30 to 40 minutes to install, which is an automated process.
  • You OWN this system - it's YOURS! You keep it, sell it, lease time on it along with all of the data.
  • The P9 Search Software is licensed to you at no cost each year as long as you have an active data subscription.
  • Windows Server Operating System software is included (we even register and activate it for you!).
  • Works with all of your current desktop computers (as long as they have a relatively current browser and are on your network).
  • Don't have a network? We include an 8 Port Switch (w/ 5 free ports). Just plug in 5 of your "networkable" computers and you are ready to get down to business searching!

A 50% down payment is required to begin building your system. Balance due when system is ready to ship. Allow approximately 7 weeks for delivery from down payment. System hardware is fully warranted with on-site repairs for 1 year, and all drives with data for 5 years (drive replacements filled with data in 2 business days and shipped overnight express, if ever needed for cost of shipping, only). We also have a spare unit that will be shipped to replace the primary unit until it is repaired (yes, we keep you working. Your time is money, and we understand that!) - Ask for our "P9 Cost of Ownership" document that lists every item right down to the cost of electricity!  (requires execution of a mutual nondisclosure agreement for your protection and ours).

If desired, we also include Remote Access software so that we can help you solve database problems from our offices using remote access.

If your school or university doesn't have this powerful patent access capability on its network yet, what are you waiting for? You don't really force your students to try to make use of the public Internet search system at the USPTO or other slow systems, do you?  And you call yourself an "institution of higher learning?"  This is a "drop in the bucket" to allow the easy, fast study of over 10 million ideas.  Don't be the last school in your state to give your students what should be REQUIRED in every university in the US!

Custom Delivery and Search Systems
We can also design and build a custom search system to your specifications with out software!

Let us build a custom search and data delivery system for your patents, applications or other IP document inventories. We have designed a fast, accurate, inexpensive text indexing and search system that is aimed directly at IP documents of all types. We can fully automate storage, maintenance and delivery of an array of documents including patents, applications, and all of the "associated" IP paperwork involved in the entire patenting process. We have a vast amount of experience in the Intellectual property industry.

You can come to us for a proven system using time-tested development methodologies, or you can go somewhere else and end up as a guniea pig, and be experimented on with the very latest acronym encrusted, web based, super-duper, nifty development language (larned by the developers last week) that may or may not be around next year (or next week, for that matter). We also provide source code for your custom software product if we can't support it for it's designed life time.

NOTES:
1.  The image products do not contain editable text data. They are scanned facsimile images at 300 dots per inch resolution.
2.  DVD media type: DVD+R (Plus R) write once discs. A test DVD is available upon request. Hard drives are Western Digital 500GB, 1 TB, 1.5TB or 2 TB "Green" drives.
3.  Tested browsers include:  SeaMonkey 1.2 and later,  FireFox. 2.0 and higher,  Internet Explorer  6.0 (SP1, ver. 6.0.2800.1106 or later),   Safari 1.2 or later (Macintosh)
4.  This compression format in the TIFF files is the same standard usedby the USPTO, and the files can be displayed by a large number of graphics viewing programs such as the Fax Viewer in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, or the Kodak Imaging program in older Windows operating systems such as Windows 2000 or ME.  It is also conmpatible with Linux Image Document Viewing programs and the Fax viewer in the Mac can also display the files.
5.
PDF is the Portable Document Format by Adobe Corporation. This is a proprietary format even though it does not require licensing fees for delivery in PDF format. The compression used in the PDF files is also G4
fax compression, although this may change in the future.
All Image systems store the facsimile images in TIFF format.
6 All image subscriptions are in TIFF format. We can provide a TIFF to PDF conversion program for less than $100 per computer that can convert each week of patents very rapidly, or it can convert our entire TIFF inventory very fast and efficiently. An entire week's issue (about 5000 patents) can be converted in under 30 minutes on a medium to fast desktop computer (Core 2 Duo CPU with 1 GB RAM). This is a converison speed of 10,000 files per hour, or 240,000 file conversions in  24 hours (yes, it is that fast) - That is almost one million multi-page TIF files converted to PDF format in 4 days.
7.  If the full text of a patent or application is not available from the USPTO (and some are not), we manually add a substitute file that contains the Title,  Abstract text, U.S. Class, IPC, Inventor and Assignee (all as published and found on the facsimile version).
8. Our large data collections are shipped on disk drives (new or re-certified) and may be formatted in any of the following formats for the listed operating systems:
 Windows:  NTFS or FAT32
 Linux:   ext2, ext3, ext4 or Reiserfs (v3.6)
A single desktop USB or eSATA interface (your choice) with power supply will be supplied with the bare disk drives so they may be loaded onto your server.
